Our Summer So Far...

We have had a busy, wonderful summer so far!  I'm going to try to do a quick summary of what we've done so far.  Unfortunately, I've become very bad at taking pictures, but am trying to do better!

Week 1:  Day at Galveston.  We packed up all of the beach gear we could think of and headed to Galveston for the day.  We just found a spot of beach, and camped out.  We enjoyed looking through the seaweed, where the boys found all sorts of little creatures.  After we'd had enough of the beach, we rinsed off, changed, and headed to the Fisherman's Warf for dinner.  Of course, we had to end our time in Galveston by getting some ice cream at the Candy Shop!  A very fun day, one which I hope to repeat before the end of the summer..

Later in the same week, we went to the Great Wolf Lodge for a weekend.  It is such a fun place to go and just let kids be kids.  We rode every water slide.  My favorite was when all four of us were able to ride together.  Just watching the boys' faces was priceless!

Week 2:  Atlanta/St. Simons.  This was our big trip for the summer.  We were able to go to Atlanta and spend the night with Matt, Meredith and Anna Lovett.  We got to celebrate Anna Lovett's baptism and enjoy hanging out with family.  The day after her baptism, all of the McClures went to St. Simons island for a week at the beach.  We had a wonderful time playing on the beach, swimming, boogie boarding, golfing (boys), and just relaxing.  I only took pictures on this trip, so I hope you enjoy those!

Week 3:  Swimming/painting/playing.  Every week, the boys have a behavior chart with several things that they have to accomplish.  If they do, they earn a special "experience."  For this week, they wanted to go to the "paint store" and chuck-e-cheese (why, oh, why??).  So, we went to this fun pottery place where you pick out an unpainted ceramic, paint it, and then they glaze and fire it for you to pick up later.  It is a really fun thing to do.  Sam painted a football and Jacob painted an airplane.  I love watching how their different personalities come out in their painting...Sam's is very neat and methodical.  He plans every color before even touching a brush.  Jacob just picks up a brush and paints whatever color comes to mind.

Later that week, we went to chuck-e-cheese.  No explanation necessary.  The boys enjoyed every second.

Week 4:  Swimming/NASA.  This week, the boys earned going to NASA for a day.  What a blast.  We spent an entire day there and still did not cover everything.  I really want to go back with them!  We did get to see Mission Control, the Saturn V rocket, all sorts of videos about space and play in the massive play area.  It did kind of make me sad that our space program is not what it used to be.  Every week, we go to the pools at least once a day.  Both boys are little fish and could spend all day at the pool.  This  past week, we tried a couple of new pools that we had never been to before and that was tons of fun for them.  Mama even did the slide and diving board with them this week :)

So, that's our summer so far.  We still are planning to go to Blue Bell Creamery, The Health Museum, The Museum of Natural Science and The Aquarium before summer comes to an end!
